what safety precaution is required before starting an electric motor
The following safety precautions must be taken before starting an electric motor: ### Power Supply Check - Make sure the power supply voltage meets the motor’s rated requirements (for example, a 380V motor should operate within the range of 360-400V). - Check the reliability of the wiring connections, and ensure that fuses are installed correctly and not damaged. ### Mechanical Check - Inspect the tightness of the coupling connection and the flexibility of the unit’s rotation, removing any friction or jamming issues. - Clear away debris and flammable materials around the motor, and keep the area well-ventilated. - Confirm that the motor’s protective cover is intact and that its metal casing is reliably grounded. ### Operational Rules - Before starting, make sure the equipment’s power switch is off to avoid accidental startup. - When starting, pay attention to the motor’s condition. If any abnormalities occur (such as slow startup or unusual noises), stop the motor immediately for inspection. - Follow the manufacturer’s operating instructions and control the number of starts (usually, it is recommended not to start more than 3 times a day). ### Additional Requirements - High-power motors should preferably use star-delta or autotransformer step-down starting methods. - Perform regular maintenance: check the lubrication of bearings and clean away dust.
